Overview

ChatMark is a Chrome extension that enhances your ChatGPT experience by allowing you to bookmark responses and receive audio notifications. This privacy policy explains how we handle your data.

Data Collection and Storage

ChatMark does not collect, transmit, or share any of your personal data with external servers or third parties.

The extension stores the following data locally on your device only:

Bookmarks: Information about which ChatGPT responses you have bookmarked, including:
- Message identifiers
- Custom bookmark names (if you rename them)
- Bookmark order and position
Extension Settings: Your preferences such as:
- Widget position on screen
- Sound notification preferences
- Extension enabled/disabled state

How Data is Stored

All data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API. This means:

Data never leaves your computer
Data is not synced to any cloud service
Data is not accessible by websites or other extensions
Data persists only on the device where you installed the extension

Data Usage

The locally stored data is used solely to:

Display your bookmarks in the extension interface
Enable navigation to bookmarked responses
Remember your extension preferences and settings

Third-Party Services

ChatMark does not use any third-party analytics, tracking, or data collection services. The extension only interacts with:

chatgpt.com and chat.openai.com - to provide bookmarking functionality
Chrome's built-in storage API - to save your bookmarks locally

Permissions

ChatMark requires the following permissions:

Storage: To save your bookmarks locally on your device
Active Tab: To access ChatGPT pages and inject bookmark functionality
Offscreen: To play audio notifications even when Chrome is in the background
Host Permissions: Limited to chatgpt.com and chat.openai.com only

Data Deletion

You can delete your bookmarks at any time through the extension interface. To completely remove all data:

Uninstall the extension from Chrome (this removes all stored data)
Or manually clear extension data via Chrome's extension settings

Children's Privacy

ChatMark does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. Since we don't collect any data, this is not applicable.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
